This caboose was built by the International Car Company of Kenton, OH in October of 1964. It was part of an order for 100 cabooses that Union Pacific placed that year. International Car had made a specialty out of building cabooses and when demand for them plummeted in the early 1980s, the company went out of business.

After nearly 25 years of service, Union Pacific donated this caboose to the Homesteaders Museum in Torrington, WY where it has been on display ever since. The Homesteaders Museum is housed in the former Union Pacific depot in South Torrington.
