Opening on August 11, 2020 in the throes of a worldwide pandemic wouldn't seem to be the most auspicious beginning for a new business, but as anyone who works at Cafe Corvo could tell you, crows are lucky -- and they're clever at figuring out how to make things work. The city of Bremerton quickly embraced this laid-back, cozy coffeehouse run by Miranda Pinero and Randall Foster, and it has become a noted fixture of the Charleston neighborhood. Dedicated to the idea that little and local are better choices, Cafe Corvo sources the beans for its brews from local roasters around the Puget Sound.
Walk on in and make your selection from the chalkboard menu above the bar; you won't have long to wait. The cafe's signature drink, the Corvo, is a 3.5-oz breve with orange chocolate and cinnamon, served with a side of sparkling water to cleanse the palate. If you like chocolate with your coffee, delve into one of several Corvo mochas; their mocha Mexicana is rich and complex, not overly sweet, with a blend of spices that is almost more like a good mole. And if you've had enough caffeine for the day and just fancy a hot chocolate, Corvo has you covered. If you need something cooler, opt for an Italian soda, with a cornucopia of flavored syrups to choose from. And if you want a little something more substantial, enjoy a cookie or pastry from the nearby McGavin's Bakery or Dude's Donuts.
You can kick back and enjoy your goodies in the small cafe or take your order to go. While Corvo doesn't offer its own Wi-Fi, if you have access to Xfinity Wi-Fi you'll be well covered here; a few other businesses in the area offer free Wi-Fi.
