"Nathan Phillips Square is the central square of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, located at the intersection of Bay Street and Queen Street. It was inaugurated in 1965, along with the Toronto City Hall, in honor of Nathan Phillips, mayor of the city from 1955 to 1962.

The square is one of the busiest tourist spots in Toronto. In winter it is very frequented by the inhabitants of the city, when an outdoor skating rink is installed, and for the New Year's celebrations. In summer, the esplanade where the rink is installed is occupied by a small lake with fountains. Nathan Phillips Square is a frequent venue for concerts, art exhibitions and demonstrations.

The City of Toronto launched a design competition in early October 2006 to obtain proposals for the revitalization of the square."
