El edificio presenta la tipología típica de estos conjuntos termales, con una galería de baños, unas zonas de servicio y de comunicación, una zona de dormitorios bastante bien distribuida y ordenada, unas zonas nobles de grandes dimensiones (salas de reuniones, salones y comedor) y un amplio jardín para pasear. En Can Rius existe una clara distinción de los diferentes volúmenes según su uso y utilización. Cada elemento tiene la imagen que le corresponde por su uso determinado.
La estructura es fundamentalmente de paredes de carga y forjados unidireccionales. Cabe destacar la estructura hecha de pequeños pilares de hierro utilizados para aliviar y dar mayor transparencia a la galería . En el conjunto existen diferentes tipos de cubiertas (cubierta plana no transitable e inclinada de teja arábiga).
Las fachadas importantes son las que dan a la riera. Todas ellas presentan un orden en su composición, totalmente moduladas y pautadas con una serie de ejes o franjas de alineación de los distintos agujeros. Cabe destacar la fachada de la galería, esta simétrica, con un componente vertical marcado por una serie de pilastras y por los pilares metálicos. Presenta un claro cambio de materiales según su altura. La parte baja de servicios hace de basamento en la parte noble, mucho más delicada, ligera y transparente.
De Can Rius debe destacarse también el puente, el jardín y la parte de muralla de la antigua villa que rodea el antiguo balneario por la parte de poniente. Dicho esto pues podemos decir que Can Rius es uno de los mayores balnearios de Caldes de Montbui, que llegó a tener una galería de baños de 40 pilas y más de 100 habitaciones, salones, restaurantes, teatro etc. dispuesto a lo largo de la Riera.
