"To celebrate the centenary of the birth of the Galician intellectual and politician Alexandre Bóveda, in 2004 the Ourense City Council promoted the placement of a monument in the gardens in front of his birthplace, at 16 Barreira Street. The sculptor Manuel Buciños He made an allegory in bronze, symbolized by an oak trunk cut in half on which children climb. At the bottom, a plaque with some words from Castelao that remember this martyr: "Bóveda will have to be, in a near or distant tomorrow, the flag of our redemption."

Bóveda, driving force of the Galician Party and one of the promoters of the Galician Statute of Autonomy, was shot by the rebels of the Civil War, and died fighting for the defense of freedom and its ideals."
