"Tribute to Laura Luelmo
The students and teachers of Laura Luelmo have remembered her as a brave and kind woman with her classmates, while calling for a more just and egalitarian society.

The coordinator of the specialty in Drawing and teacher of Laura Luelmo, Amparo Alonso, has expressed 'the joint pain of teachers and students at the tragic death of Luelmo' and 'as an art educator, runner and woman, I emphasize even more with her', she said. In addition, she has demanded 'a fairer society, where women are heard, not only in Spain, but in all countries where women live situations of greater inequality and violence'. Everyone highlights Laura's goodness, her ability to help others, to trust in human beings,' said Alonso.

The rector of the Universitat de València Mª Vicenta Mestre thanked those responsible for these acts and stressed 'that only through education, we can eradicate any kind of violence, especially that which is exercised against women. Only from the respect between all human beings we will live in a more democratic and egalitarian society, because inequality generates violence,' said Mestre.

'We are enraged and angry, because we live in an unjust society, a society that does not respect women', said Isabel Piqueres, who was Laura Luelmo's partner. We all remember Laura for her vitality, her constant smile, and the courage she exuded', recalled Piqueres.

The mural has been painted in the courtyard of the former Teacher Training School and has served for 'students to express their feelings, because art links the pain and serves as a strategy of struggle,' said Amparo Alonso. The mural, which will bear the name of Laura Luelmo, 'will serve as a permanent reminder of her time at the University'.

The Official University Master's Degree in Compulsory Secondary Education was taken by Laura Luelmo in the 2014-2015 academic year, specializing in drawing."

This mural has been made in tribute to this murdered teacher victim of gender violence.
On a white background, her face was placed.
Her name is made with letters that look like graffiti cut-outs.
Underneath, words of support and sadness such as "your pain is ours" "we are with you" "change is possible".
