Animal Crossing - Lac Des Arcs, AB - Man-made Animal Bridges and Crossings on Waymarking.com

Large animal crossing nearing completion over the Trans Canada Highway east of Canmore, near the village of Lac Des arcs.

This is one of a total of 44 such crossings over the Trans Canada system, and is the newest.

Since the first one was installed about 4 years ago, wildlife have taken to the bridges as a safe means of interacting with other herds and groups of animals, such as elk, grizzly and black bears.

The bridges have been hailed as a conservation success story throughout Canada and have served as a template for other countries to follow.

There is a small pullover off the westbound lanes.
