Personal experience July 2024:
We were here at the end of the day (during a week day). The result of the market was still visible. Next time we have to come earlier.

"One of the largest open-air markets in Europe (Turin says 'the largest') can be found in the old center, on and around the Piazza della Repubblica. The market is known as the Porta Palazzo, but the people of Turin call it Porta Pila.

The market is a melting pot of cultures. In the 1960s it was mainly Italians from the poor south who emigrated to the north and mixed with the inhabitants. Now it is mainly North Africans who have stalls there and do their daily shopping.

Every day there are an enormous number of stalls (over a thousand) with fruit and vegetables beautifully displayed, with herbs, cheeses and meat - too many to mention. Especially in the summer, a multitude of colors shine towards you."
