Elliott Daingerfield painted a mural titled "Madona of the Hills" for the Stringfellow Chapel in Blowing Rock. In recognition of this wonderful gift, the church was renamed "St. Mary's of the Hills" (Episcopal).
To reach from the Blue Ridge Parkway, mile post 294.5, exit onto US-221 and proceed southwesterly about 0.4 mile to a historical marker, just before the entrance to the resort. The mansion will be visible on the hill above you. Or, from downtown Blowing Rock, take US-221 South for 2.8 miles to the site, on your left.
The GPS coordinates are for the rear parking lot of the building. The photos were taken with permission of a staff person.
