The Meeme Poll House, the official voting place in the Town of Meeme for 83 years, was erected by Joseph Schwartz and Edmund Kolb in 1900. German immigrants and their descendants exercised their democratic right to vote in this simple wooden structure. The adjacent Meeme House (c.1847), originally a stagecoach inn, served as the town's polling place in the 19th century. The Meeme Poll House closed in 1983, but curtained voting booths still remain in the interior.
