The church was founded in medieval times with architectural evidence dating from the 12th Century. It has been much altered – it is now smaller than it was for example. It has a 14thC font and gargoyles ( internal). Windows are a mixture of Decorated and Perpendicular style (14th to 15th Century). Major repairs were carried out to the building 1830-32. Further repairs were made in 1890.

The roof is of Kingpost construction and dates from the 18thC. The Bellcote was built during the 1890 changes.

The church was abandoned as far back as 1966 – pews were stripped out etc – but it was not until 1986 that the church was formerly declared redundant.
