The First Baptist Church was built in 1871. Deacon Lysander Dudley presented plans for the church and was appointed to superintend building this structure.
The first meeting was held in the basement of the new church on January 2, 1872. An Education Building was added in 1959.
The First Baptist Church was built at the height of the Italianate period, and displays the characteristic elements of the style.
