Th Okotoks cenotaph was built after World War I and restored by the local Royal Canadian Legion in 1996. Frederick Price was a long-time resident of Okotoks and a war veteran. When he died he left his estate to the local Legion branch. When the Okotoks branch folded in 1997 the park was turned over to the town and maintained with the funds from Price’s estate which is why it bears his name. The cenotaph includes the names of the men and women from Okotoks and area who died in war.

The historic district is very well set-up for a self-guided tours of parks, homes and other buildings. After finding the cache in this park, we spent a few quiet moments giving thanks to those who served and are serving in the military, so that we are free to enjoy things like geocaching and waymarking.
