Sideways was a rat terrier that lived with students in the dorms and halls of Georgia Tech from 1945-1947. The dog was injured in a car accident and was forced to walk sideways. She was favored among many of the students on the campus and even the dining hall made it a point to feed her. She even attended classes. Sideways died after accidentally ingesting rat poison in one of the dorms. The memorial plaque is dedicated to her and sits outside the dorm on campus.
