This dam creates Lake Miramar, a drinking-water reservoir and recreational lake in San Diego, California.

From this dam, on a clear day, you can see the Pacific Ocean, as the name of the lake implies. From 2001 to 2007 the dam was fenced off but now it is again possible to walk or bike across it and make a complete 5-mile circuit of the lake. Fishing and boating are also permitted.
