Java School No.1 was founding around 1850 in Java Village, New York. There the school played an important role as an education institution in the area. The school now stands as the Java Village museum and the headquarters for the Java Historical Society (which was established in 1974) and serves as the keeper of Java's local history exhibits and artifacts.
