Bass Pro Shops World Wide Sportsman rises amidst the picturesque beachscape of sea oats, sand dunes, and crashing surf becoming the jewel in the Emerald Coast crown. The World Wide Sportsman will be the sixteenth Bass Pro Shops retail location.
The 50,000 square-foot, two-story World Wide Sportsman is the second World Wide store and the fourth Florida location for the Springfield, Missouri-based Bass Pro Shops. The white stucco-textured exterior structure also features Bahaman shutters and a patina green roof typical of buildings in tropical climates. Visitors traveling along U.S. 98 will also see a 6,000 square-foot covered boat canopy that will house a huge selection of fresh and salt water boats.
Inside the cool interior, colorful native fish dart around the 10,000 gallon saltwater aquarium fed by a spring. State record-fish mounts along with actual old photographs from the area depicting hunting and fishing scenes adorn the walls. Various wildlife exhibits and floor carvings help bring the outdoors, indoors, a Bass Pro Shops trademark theme.
Other unique features include check-out counters designed like boats and an elevator to the upper retail level shaped like a tower on a Hatteras-style tuna boat.
