The Ranch House is a legacy of Avery B. Miller, a pioneer landowner and rancher in the San Bernardino Valley. This house is now located in a neighborhood of houses and somewhat out of place. I'm sure some of the neighbors have no idea of the history behind the fence. The camp was active between 1905-1941 and used as the ranch foreman's house. Miller founded the town of Fontana in 1903 and used the surrounding 12,000 acres for farming; including growing crops and raising pigs and other animals. His large pig operation was located on the land that was to become Kaiser Steel, now the Auto Club Speedway of California.
The building is currently used as a museum by the Fontana Historical Society. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 and is also California Point of Historical Interest.
