The building itself was built in 1865, and was acquired by Willis Jefferson Buzby and his wife, Myrtle. Upon his death in 1939, his son, Willis Johnathon Buzby (Jack) and his wife Katie took over the store. Buzby's served the community as a source of food stuffs, kerosene, gasoline, hardware, gunning supplies, animal feed, Esso gasoline (1921) and at one time as the Post Office (1934).
The Buzbys kept the store until 1967. After the sale, the building fell into disrepair, but was purchased at a tax sale and has since been renovated.
