Corps of Discovery II – Fort Atkinson #1 is a twelve-inch Lewis and Clark commemorative survey disk on the grounds of Fort Atkinson State Park, Fort Calhoun, Washington County, Nebraska. The disk is stamped with the logo of the Corps of Discovery II series of Lewis and Clark commemorative disks, and was dedicated on July 31, 2004, as part of the “First Tribal Council” national signature event. The disk is mounted in a concrete pad that is an extension of a concrete sidewalk and is flush with the sidewalk. The disk is about three feet north of the centerline of the north “lane” of the two-lane sidewalk that leads to the “First Council” sculpture display site. The disk does not have any other identifying stamping other than the standard design elements of the commemorative series of disks: CORPS OF DISCOVERY II – 200 YEARS TO THE FUTURE – PEACE AND FRIENDSHIP. To reach from the Washington County Historical Museum on 14th Street (US Route 75) in Fort Calhoun, go south for one block to Madison Street. Turn left and go east on Madison Street for about 0.47 miles to the T-intersection with 7th Street. Turn left and go north on 7th Street for about 0.1 miles to the entrance to the Fort Atkinson State Historical Park. Follow the driveway east and north to the parking lot on the northwest side of the visitors' center. From the most northeastern point of the parking lot, walk northeast on the concrete walk that leads to the First Council sculpture display for about 100 feet and the disk on the left.
