This road was originally the Sandtown Trail traveled by several tribes of Creek Indians. It connected Sandtown on the Chattahoochee River near Atlanta, Ga. with another Sandtown in Tallapoosa County, Ala. It later became Old Ala. Road over which early white settlers traveled. It was at one time a stage coach route through this section.
It was placed by the A.J. McBride chapter of the United Daughters Of The Confederacy in 1970
