In Ballum staat het gemeentehuis van Ameland dat gebouwd is op de plaats waar eens het Camminghaslot heeft gestaan van waaruit in vroeger jaren de gemeente werd bestuurd. In het gemeentehuis bevindt zich de raadzaal/trouwzaal met ongeveer 40 zitplaatsen. Opvallend in deze zaal is het grote schilderij van de Koninklijke familie, geschilderd door Jan Kruis.
