Fort Cronkhite is one of two military forts that guarded Rodeo Valley in the
Marin Headlands. Rodeo Valley, running east and west, opens into a lagoon and beach at the seashore. Today the old buildings of Fort Cronkhite provide offices for the Headlands Institute and the
Marine Mammal Center.
Among the many things to see and do nearby are the YMCA Point Bonita Outdoor and Conference Center, the Pacific Environment and Resources Center, the Golden Gate Raptor Observatory, as well as Point Bonita Lighthouse, Bird Island, Rodeo Lagoon and Beach.
Fort Cronkhite is part of the forts-to-parks program of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
