Remarks: Originally in the collection of the Hodgell-Gillman Gallery, Tampa. Purchased by the City of Tampa for $16,000, from a One Percent for Art fund to celebrate Tampa's centennial. Installed at City Hall in 1987, and moved to NCNB National Bank Park, (later Nations Bank) in 1989. After being vandalized in October 1992, sculpture was removed to City storage. In June 1993, the artist picked up the sculpture in order to begin restoring it, including replacing missing rungs and adding a coating. The restored sculpture was reinstalled at its current location, Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, in October 1995. Nearby plaque reads: ZIG ZAG/brushed aluminum/Linda Howard/sponsored by the City of Tampa/Art in Public Places Program/1987. IAS files include information from City files concerning the sculpture's purchase and restoration.
