The Plaquemine Fire Department includes three fire stations and both paid and volunteer firefighters who respond to emergencies in a 70 mile area including the City of Plaquemine and the surrounding area. It responds to a wide variety of emergencies including fires, medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, search and rescue efforts, hazardous materials incidents and other emergencies. The department includes 13 paid, full time firefighters and about 30 volunteers.
