Chrám svatého Bartolomeje je nejvýznamejší architektonickou dominantou mesta.

Byl budován postupne od konce 13.století do pocátku 16.století.
Jedná se o gotický trojlodní chrám, je 58 m dlouhý a 30 m široký.
Vež chrámu je nejvyšší kostelní veží v Ceské republice. Je vysoká 102,3m a má ve výšce 62 m prístupný ochoz, na který vede 301 schod.

Nejvýznamejší památkou kostela je Plzenská madona (z doby okolo 1390). Jedná se o gotickou opukovou sochou, umístenou ve výklenku na hlavním pseudogotickém oltári.

V roce 1993 se kostel svatého Bartolomeje stal sídelním kostelem biskupa plzenské diecéze (založena 31. kvetna 1993 papežem Janem Pavlem II.).
Do té doby byl kostelem arcidekanským.

The Cathedral of Saint Bartholomew (in Czech katedrála sv. Bartolomeje) dominates the city center of Pilsen in the Czech Republic.

The construction of the Gothic style building, located on the main square, started in 1295 and was finished by the beginning of 16th century.

The building is 58m long, 30m wide and the spires are 25m high. The tallest spire is 102.3m high, being the highest in the Czech Republic.

In 1993, when Pope John Paul II erected the Diocese of Plzen, the church of St. Bartholomew was consecrated as the cathedral of the new diocese.
