The ROSE GARDENS, 28th and Linden Sts., dedicated by the city in 1931, embrace about four acres on which grow many varieties of rose, from the dwarf to the rugged rambler and Dorothy Perkins special rose. In the center are rose beds, flanked by climbing varieties covering arches and trellises. To the east is an old-fashioned garden where flowering plants and shrubs bloom in summer. To the south flows Cedar Creek, its waters forming lagoons carpeted with water lilies. Lining its banks are plots of varicolored iris and evergreen trees.

A couple of things have changed over the years. The Rose Garden is now called the Malcolm Gross Memorial Rose Garden. Linden Street is now called Parkway Boulevard in this stretch. There are two Gazebos and numerous birdhouses in the arbors. The Rose Garden is a favorite spot for Wedding Photos nowadays. The nearby Old Fashioned garden has recently been renovated (summer 2009). It has many interesting fragrant herbs - my favorite being Southernwood.
