This website (http://www.archive.org/stream/massachusettssolklsumass/massachusettssolklsumass_djvu.txt), a full text article of the 1891 publication 'Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors IN THE War of the Revolution' contains the following information about Nathan Bowles:
"Keizer, Joh.v Adam. Receipt dated West Springfield, April 19, 1782, for bounty paid said Keizer by Samuel Leonard, Jr., and Pelatiah Bliss, a committee for Col. Nathan Bowles's class of the town of West Springfield, to serve in the Continental Army for the term of 3 years."

This website (http://www.jamesmackay.us/GenDoc.doc), actually a link to a word documeny constructed by James Mackay, lists Nathan Bowles the 9th child of 10 born to Julia Jean Mackay and David Bowles. Nathan wed Jennia Hudson and had 3 children. Though it is unsure if this is the same Nathan Bowles--this site lists two more, but the birthdates do not match (http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/WARREN/1998-03/0889829147). This site (http://newsfeed.rootsweb.com/th/read/BOWLES/2005-10/1128406877) also seems to be a good source of information.
