L-20 or U-6A - Beaver
The DCH-2 Beaver was developed in 1947 as a civilian
utility aircraft. It was touted as it could land and take off nearly anywhere. With that type of reputation, the armed services in 1951, started ordering their own. Nearly 1,000 of these aircraft were delivered, mostly to the United States Army, but also to the Air Force. These aircraft were originally designated L-20 until 1962 when unified service designations changed to U-6A.
The military used these craft for nearly everything cargo and transportation related through both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. The versitility of the aircraft was widely aclaimed. The craft was capable of photographing enemy positions, as it was fitted with a camera hatch. Landing anywhere wasn't a problem; canoes could be fitted to augment the landing gear.
