Named for Arnett "Ace" W. Mumford, the most successful Football coach for the Southern University Jags. Coach Mumford won 5 Black College football national championships. He amassed a record of 179-61-13 (73% winning percentage) from 1936-1961. The stadium is slated for an expansion that will close in the ends and add additional seating and boxes. Along with the Southern Jaguars, the Southern University Lab School Kittens also use the stadium for it's home games. Also used for university Soccer matches.
