Sculpture loctaed in front of the St. Mary Parish courthouse. Appeared to be in good condition, but really looked very dirty, appeared to really need a good cleaning. Mr. Caffery was a lieutenant in the 13th Louisiana infantry regiment. After the war, he became a lawyer and elected to the Louisiana Senate. He was appointed to the US Senate, when the incumbent died in office c 1892.
