The park is divided into two by Park Avenue South. This, the smaller side, houses the church of St.Peter and St.Paul, the museum, an aviary, a bandstand, a coffee shop, bowling greens and tennis courts. It is the 'quiet side'. Across the road there is a much larger part of parkland with children's play area, a lake - feed the ducks, and a rose garden besides large expanses of grass. Kite flying is a favourite pastime here.
