At the top of the monument is written: "William Chapman Ralston - 1826-1875 " Under this is a bronze plaque featuring bust-length relief portrait of William Chapman Ralston. Under the plaque it's written: "He blazed the path for san francisco's onward. March to achievement and renown."
On back of sculpture is a bronze relief plaque depicting a standing female. She holds an eagle in one hand, and a weapon in the other. Below this is written: "Memorial to William c. Ralston erected by San Francisco through the generous gift of major Edward Bowes 1941."
