Address: 404 S 32nd St, Mattoon, IL Across the street from Lytle Park, which is a big source of their customers.

From a local Herald-Review newspaper article August 23 2007:
"The Rhoads men, who also operate Rhoads Refrigeration, purchased the ice cream cone-shaped Twistee Treat building from some friends in Florida. The summit of the building's cone is 21 feet high, and the diameter at the base is about 12 feet. The Twistee Treat logo was covered with paint and the building converted to sell frozen custard rather than ice cream.

The difference? There's egg in custard, making it richer and creamier - and, yes, more fattening - than ice cream. In addition to chocolate and vanilla custard, Rhoadside offers eight flavors, such as butter pecan, black raspberry and strawberry, that rotate weekly. The custard stand serves sundaes with toppings - hot fudge, caramel, strawberry and black raspberry. There's also the aptly titled Arctic Swirl, an amalgam of custard and candy, cookies and/or other treats. Rhoadside features sugar cones, waffle cones and waffle bowls and even chocolate, cherry and cotton candy flavors of self-hardening cone "dip."

The seasonal Rhoadside Custard operates from mid-April to mid-September and is regarded by many patrons of Lytle Pool and park as the unofficial concession stand."

I just happened to find this place while driving through town. Being a boiling hot day and never having had a custard before, I just had to stop. Glad I did!
