From the Albuquerque BioPark website:
Japanese pines and Rio Grande cottonwood mingle around a waterfall at the Albuquerque BioPark's newest feature, the Sasebo Japanese Garden.
Opened in September 2007, the four-acre Japanese-themed garden features Asian landscaping interlaced with local plants. Stone lanterns and pagoda sculptures dot the grounds, which also host an elegant koi pond.
The addition is named for Albuquerque's Japanese Sister City.
Noted landscape architect Toru Tanaka, founder of Portland Landscape Design and Japanese Garden Speciality, designed Albuquerque's garden.
Sasebo Garden is included with general admission to the Rio Grande Botanic Garden.
Docent-led tours of the garden are offered on Wednesdays at 11:00am and 12:00pm.
