The station was built by the East Lancashire Railway company in 1846.It continued to operate under the ownership of different railway operators until 1962.
The railway was re-opened by the East Lancashire Railway Preservation Society in 1987. The line is 12 miles long and has 6 stations with Ramsbottom being roughly in the middle. The society has a number of different types of railway engines including steam trains.
The co-ordinates are for the entrance to the station. There is a nominal charge to go onto the platforms which is currently one pound.
