At the end of Homer's Homer Spit, there is the Homer Ferry Terminal. This terminal is a stop along the Alaska Marine Highway, which has routes as far down as Bellingham, Washington and as far out as the Aleutian Islands.
These ferries can take any traffic, including people, cars, bikes, kayaks and canoes. But, there is a price for everything. The fares depend on the distance going, so best check the web site.
From the web site, the ferry, Tustumena, serves Homer and islands to the southwest, stopping at Seldovia, Kodiak, while the Kennicott serves the Prince Rupert communities, Homer, Seward, and Kodiak. It takes several days to complete one route, so the boats are not at the terminal often.
The terminal was closed at the time of the visit. It may have some eating facilities, but there is plenty on the spit for food and drink and gifts, anyway.
