The Boron Chamber of Commerce named the facility after Colonel Vernon P. Saxon Jr. a former Vice-Commander at the Air Force Test Flight Center at Edwards. Saxon spent 17 of his 30 years of military service stationed at Edwards, logging more than 4,000 flight hours. Many of Saxon's missions were flown were over the skies of Boron, and some of the aircraft he flew during his 30 year career include the F-4, the A-1, the T-38 and his personal favorite, the F-15.
On display are:
A F-4 Phantom that was acquired through the Air Force Conditional Deeded Program, Davis Montham AFB, Arizona, after the Chamber raised $12,000 costs associated with acquiring and moving the aircraft.
A X-25A model Gyrocopter is on loan to the museum,
A display flight suits and helmets,
Two HARVs (High Altitude Research Vehicles, models X-31 and F-18,
A XLR-8 Rocket Engine from a Navy D-558 Skyrocket, used to reach the speed of Mach 2.5 for the first time,
A T-45 Trainer Engine,
A one-of-a-kind Custom Tuner Airplane,
A liquid propellant ballistic missile from WWII,
A Corporal Ballistic Missil Nosecone and
A rocket booster chamber from the Rocket Test Site at Edwards Air Force Base.

Personally guided tours of the Saxon Aerospace Museum for schools and groups of 10 or more are available free of charge, but they do require an advance notice of seven days to arrange your tour. School groups are required to have one parent / teacher chaparone for every 10 students. Please contact the museum for more information.
The Saxon Aerospace Museum is open seven days a week from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Special museum hours can be arranged for groups of 10 or more. The museum is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day.
