In 1885, the railroad from Osek at Czech side of Erzgebirge was connected with the Saxonian railroad network and it was used until the end of WW II. Since then until 1972, Hermsdorf-Rehefeld was the final station of the railroad from Holzhau - the bridges to Moldava were damaged and they were never repaired.
The rail bed has been recently converted to a cross-country skiing trail and the station building to a hotel with restaurant.
