Obscured by bushes and brush, I re-discovered this neglected monument while hunting a benchmark that's on top of the rock.
Plaque text reads;
Samuel Benedict
Came to this area in 1801
And settled on these lands
which remained in his family
for over 150 years until
they were acquired by the
Federal District Commission
for the building of the
Gatineau Parkway.
