In Newport, to the west of downtown Newport, is a building that has both a bus transportation center and the Newport County Visitors Center. The full title of the building is the Humphrey J. "Harp" Donnelly III Newport Gateway Transportation and Visitors Center" as stated on the south side of the building.
The building is located at:
23 America's Cup Avenue
Newport, RI, 02840
Phone: 401-845-9123
The center is an open room with many pamphlets about tourist sites in Newport and Rhode Island. There is also a central desk to get more information concerning tours of the mansions and other places.
There is some parking in the rear for 30 minutes. Other parking is available in the parking garage also to the rear of the building. At the time of the visit, parking was free, but rates may be seasonal.
Newport is a busy tourist location. The city is most famous for the large 'cottages' that once were occupied by some of the richest people in the country. But, there are many other places to visit as well, including the older sections of the city, the Newport Tower at Touro Park, and Fort Adams State Park.
