According to a nearby information sign erected by the Addingham Civic Society the pub was built in 1820, but there is an older building nearby that used to be a pub.
It does not say what the older pub was called.
According to its website it is one of the last remaining unspoilt village ale houses in Wharfedale. It's traditional design of four rooms arranged around a central bar is now rarely found.
In 2010 it also became the first pub in Addingham to be awarded the Keighley and Craven Branch Pub of the Season.
