The school was built in 1840 and was one of the first primary schools in Bishops Stortford. Despite a period of financial uncertainty in 1874, the school flourished. The school saw service all the way to 1968, when its cramped Victorian conditions became intolerable. The building now sees use as a Youth Centre.
