Teaming with all sorts of marine wildlife including hundreds of species of fish, coral, turtles and a seal or 2, this is a great place to snorkel! With various sized pools, there is a place to snorkel for just about every experience level!
Located on the Southeastern coast of the island of Hawai`i (the Big Island), the Waiopae Tidepools MLCD is about a one hour drive south of the Hilo airport. Take highway 130 heading south, then go east on highway 132 to highway 137. Travel about 1.1 miles south on highway 137 and turn east on Kapoho Kai drive. Follow road to parking areas marked by signs.
The local home association maintains a parking lot for visitors but there are no other facilities! They request a $3 donation for parking but it isn't required. No dogs and no alcohol! Please be sure to respect the environment, carry any trash out that you bring!
