A great, 2 day fishing trip with 6.2 miles to start on the Rapidan and 8.3 miles the second day on the Rappahannock to the take out at the Mott's Run state ramp. At least 10 free campsites at the confluence.
Parking/put-in/launching information: Ely's Ford, VA state ramp into the Rapidan has room for about 20-25 vehicles.
Paddling conditions to be expected: Up to class 2-3 rapids depending on water levels.
Difficulty of the trip: Pretty much anyone can do this trip. It's a favorite with Boy Scout Troops for it's length and combo of flat and white water.
Length of trip: 14.5mi 2 day camping/fishing trip
Portages: None, but depending on water level there can be some pushing and walking.
Permits required: None. Free campsites at the confluence.
Type of trip: One-way. Drop a vehicle at Mott's Run ramp and put-in at Ely's Ford
 Take-out Coordinates: N 38° 18.818 W 077° 32.448
Other information: We had a Bald Eagle hop-scotch the river with us on the Rapidan for about an hour. VA Outdoor Center, Frederiksburg has a great photo map book. http://www.playva.com/
