As you sit on this bench and watch the world go by, the city of Revelstoke is much different today than in the late 1880's when the community first came to life. Revelstoke was founded during construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) in 1885. Front Street, the main business street in the townsite of Farwell, was originally very much a wild west town complete with general stores, hotels, brothels and saloons.
