This bronze bust of Pope John Paul II is by sculptor Joy Buba. It simply depicts the head of John Paul who appears to be looking intently into the near distance with a look of satisfaction. It is set to the left of the entrance to St. Patrick's Cathedral....near the guest book. It is placed on a marble pedestal which has the inscription:
"HIS
HOLINESS
JOHN PAUL II
VISITED T
HIS CATHEDRAL
ON
OCTOBER 2-3,
1979"
Unfortunately the poster of this waymark could not find additional information about the work or the artist. The artist does have several other works however which are listed on the Smithsonian's Inventory.
The coordinates refer to the entrance to the Cathedral.
