The park recently reopened. The park opened in 1961. It's named after former Mayor of San Jose Fred Watson. In 2005 the park was closed when evidence of a burn dump was discovered during a skate park construction project.

The park has two basketball courts, two playgrounds, a soccer pitch and a dog park.
