The two-story brick house was built in 1827 by Henry Miller, Jr.
Its notority comes from serving as General Jackson's headquarters during April 19-30, 1862 when the Union and Confederate Armies clashed in the Shenandoah Valley.
The house is now operated by the local historical society as a museum - open only on Sundays 1-5PM between Memorial Day and Labor Day. No charge to enter. (Donations welcomed!)
Note: Do not be confused (like I was) with Kite Mansion over on 17271 Spotswood Trail which is another NRHP place in this town.
