The lighthouse is on the promontory of Cape Sant Sebastià, 168 metres above sea level and was built in 1857 and was designed by Jose M. Faquineto.
Below here is an important sea route for ships sailing from Marseilles, Genoa and Corsica, and the promontory has been used as a lookout since the Middle Ages.
The lighthouse is a white tower, 12 metres high on top of a red roofed white building. It was electrified in 1940 and uses a 3,000 watt light. On 11 December 1970 a radio range facility was added, linked to the radio ranges of Mao and El Llobregat.
The light shines for a distance of 32 miles, the most far reaching light on the Catalan coast.
